A product of RCD Espanyol's youth system, Ángel appeared in seven games with the first team during 2006–07, the first on 11 March 2007, in a 1–1 La Liga draw at Racing de Santander. He added two appearances (in wins) in the side's UEFA Cup runner-up campaign.
In the following season, Ángel was an important element in the Catalan outfit, scoring in wins at Sevilla FC (3–2) and CA Osasuna (2–1). After Mauricio Pochettino's arrival as coach, in January 2009, he was deemed surplus at requirements. After a loan move had been arranged until the end of the season with second division's Gimnàstic de Tarragona, the deal fell off, as Espanyol did not sign, as originally intended, Argentine midfielder Oscar Ahumada before the 31st deadline.[1]
For 2009–10, Ángel was loaned to Rayo Vallecano in the second level, in a season-long move. In July, he was definitely released by Espanyol, signing with another club in that level, hometown's Girona FC.
On 25 July 2011, Ángel signed a two-year contract with Blackpool in the Football League Championship. The deal included an option for a third year.[2]
Ángel's older brother, José, is also a footballer. A defender, he played mainly with Girona, coinciding with his sibling in 2010–11.
